Fertility lesson from playing darts

One of my more fun recent first dates courtesy of Tinder was when I played darts with the guy.

Yes, really - it was fun.

Let me explain...

The first time I meet someone from an online dating service is usually more of what I call a "meet and greet".

Typically, coffee or something really low-key and low commitment.  Easy in.  Easy out.

So to do something different that first time is refreshing.

Never played darts but I enjoyed it so much that I went home and ordered a dartboard immediately.  Who said Tinder dates are pointless? :P

It hangs in the family room at the base of the stairs so my kids and I walk by it every time we  go up or down the stairs.  So, a lot...

Randomly, we'll just throw a few darts at the board.  Since 6 darts came in the set, it's usually at least 1 round of 6 throws.

We're getting better.

And we love seeing the incremental improvement.

When we first started, we barely hit the board.  Thank goodness for the plastic tips!  Otherwise, our wall would look like a 17yo face after picking at his zits all summer long.

Now we usually hit the board even getting bullseyes randomly (we have no technique yet).

We spend no more than a few minutes a day throwing darts.

Yet we improve.

As we get better, our confidence rises.  Then we throw another round or 2.  Sometimes we end up having a game cuz we want to one-up each other.

So here's the deal...

We never had the expectation of a specific goal i.e. hit the bulls-eye.

The point was to have fun.  Period.  End of story.

This approach will serve you well as you travel your fertility journey.

It's not about how fast you can reach your goal of getting pregnant cuz you can't control the outcome.  You know it yet you try to change that immutable fact.

You've been trained by the western medical paradigm to look for the quick fix.  IVF and IUI certainly work but, for the vast majority of women over 40, they are not your typical road to success.

Nope, you're best bet is to try to get pregnant naturally.

Oh yes, and I believe you can.

But that takes time.

Because although you can't control the end result of whether or not you get pregnant, you are in full control of the various inputs that can influence that outcome.

That's what I teach in my online GPS (Get Pregnant & Stay pregnant) Fertility Program.  So if you're interested, looky here: zenfertility.com/gps

And, believe it or not, that process of discovery and learning makes this fertility path a whole lot less bumpy.

Speaking of which, let me throw in a few darts now.
