Lessons of a Louboutin obsession

"How to improve the egg quality and quantity naturally?"

That was the question sent to me yesterday in the most succinct email ever.

Here's my answer...

Unless you have a structural issue like  a missing tube or ovary that requires medical intervention, most fertility difficulties are "functional" in that it's because your body isn't doing its job properly.

Your fertility and health isn't an all or nothing condition.

It's like seeing a pair of Louboutins.  Guuurrrlll, I want a closet full of them but it ain't gonna happen.  Technically, I have the money for a pair or 2.  But, given my financial situation, I would be sacrificing something else in order to get me some red-soled beauties.  So I could start off by making it a priority and save towards that goal.

Anyhoo, just as I can't expect to have a pair of Louboutin at the snap of my fingers, you shouldn't expect to suddenly become fertile.  It takes time, sacrifice, and work.

So stop focusing on egg quality and quantity i.e. "your fertility issue".

Instead, focus on getting yourself as healthy as possible.

This really is the single best piece of advice I can give.  It's back to the basics.

Clinically, the women who are able to focus on their health and not their fertility per se are the ones who tend to have the best outcomes.

One reason is that they have the mentality to be in it for the long haul because it can take months, even years.  This is a marathon, not a sprint.  Even if and when you get pregnant, you still have to be healthy enough to carry a thriving baby to term.  Many don't think past the getting pregnant stage but you've got to plan beyond that as well.

Whatever fertility problems (or really any health problems, truth be told) you're experiencing is a symptom of deeper health issues that need to be explored.

If your body is in optimal health, your fertility will follow naturally.

In chronic health conditions, there is no magic bullet for whatever ails you.

It took years for you to get to this point although you may not have realized it.  Your parents may have started by feeding you sugar laden food and fruit juices.  Then as an adult you continued those eating habits but added on top of that lack of exercise and stress.  You see where I'm going?  This didn't just happen...

So the 4 areas that you need to focus on are:

  • physical health - nutrition, supplements, exercise
  • emotional health - deep & meaningful connections with your community
  • spiritual health - meditation or prayer
  • mental health - keeping your brain challenged (learn a new language, play a new instrument, start a business)

Reading my daily emails will get you on your path.

That's how you can improve your egg quality and quantity naturally.

Now, I'm going to see if I can find me a pair of Louboutins. :)  Are they even comfy?  Do you have a pair you love?  Send me a pic so I can be jealous.
