My biggest challenge when dating

One of the biggest challenges when dating is to focus on the new guy in front of me.  To be fully present with him.

Not to judge him against the yardstick of past men.  Or worse yet, to punish him for their wrongs.

On the flip side, not to hold him up to the dream of Disney's happily-ever-after future.

Because in doing so, I might prematurely stop the connection dead in its tracks.  It's over before it ever had a chance to start.

And so it is with you.

Holding on to the past disappointments of seeing Aunt Flo cycle after cycle can callus your heart to the possibility of what can happen.  With each month, hope dims ever so slightly more.  Because your eggs are getting older.

On the other hand, attaching yourself to the outcome of having a baby can take you out of the present.

Because it's only the here and now that we are guaranteed.

Having new markers of success along your fertility journey will enrich your experience.

Signs like deeper relationships with your loved ones, better health, more joy.  Aren't those worthy goals to pursue while on your fertility journey to keep you motivated?

It's not easy to stay in the moment.  In fact, it's one of the hardest things you can do amidst all the noise.

But it IS a skill that you can hone over time.

And it gets easier the more you're aware of it and actually do something about it.

This skill gives you more joy and in doing so, can rejuvenate your eggs.  Who woulda thunk it?
