Idiot's guide to chaos planning

Speaking of chaos (as mentioned in yesterday's email)...

When it crops up, small or big, doesn't matter - it causes stress.

Cuz we didn't plan for it.

The irony of chaos is that it's predictable in its complete disorder and confusion.  In that, we know it's going to happen.  Every day, every week, every month.

But we're always surprised when it shows up.

Cuz we didn't plan for it.

So how do we mitigate its effect on us?

By planning for it.

Huh? Yep.  For realz.

Every day, build in 2-3 hours for chaos control.

I know, I know.  It sounds impossible.

But if you look hard (or not even that hard) at your day, you'll see a lot of time leaking out into non-productive activities.   Checking email constantly, FB, shooting the breeze at the water cooler, online shopping at work, meetings that you don't need to attend.

Control your time and you will be less stressed.

Your time is your most valuable asset.  So horde it like pauper with a queen's treasure.

Schedule your meetings around that block.  In fact, mark that 2-3 hours of chaos control as a meeting on your schedule so that you stick to it.

Use that time to take care of unexpected emergencies, catch up on work, or even take a nap if you want.

Managing your stress is critical for your health and, of course, your fertility.

Stress ages you and your eggs more quickly.

Stress, in and of itself, is harmful to your physical well being by raising your stress hormones.

But then it has a domino effect in other areas.  Makes you pick up a cigarette, mindlessly eat to calm you down, snap at your partner, trouble sleeping, anxiety.

All of that is no bueno for your eggs.

So the better you can handle it cuz it ain't going anywhere, the more relaxed you'll be.

I dunno.  It works for me.

Just sayin'.
