My 8yo was offered a dog walking gig a few days. $15 for a 30 minute walk. She was excited! I, on the other hand, was skeptical. That sounded too generous.
Sure enough, the owner changed her offer to $20 a week for 20-30 minutes, 5 days a week. Coming out to $4/walk.
I have to break the news to my daughter about the new offer and she is going to be very disappointed. To go from $15 to $4 is a huge bump down.
I've tried to teach my kids to keep to their word and commitments. If they say they're going to do something, I do my best to make sure they honor that. It has taught them to be careful about what they promise.
So they expect the same of others. Unfortunately, others aren't so conscientious about their words. In this instance, the dog owner blurting out the offer without consulting her husband first.
In my attempt to teach my kids integrity, it goes beyond what they promise others. It's about the commitments they make to themselves.
Like doing their best in school and life, treating others as they want to be treated i.e. with respect and kindness, take advantage of opportunities, embrace failure as chances to learn and grow, ...
Their actions need to match their words.
So it is with you...
If you want to overcome fertility issues such as having a later start in the baby making arena, your actions must move you forward towards that goal. They can be small changes but the consistent, daily effort will accumulate in exponential value.
"I'm too busy to workout, cook a healthy meal, meditate, ..."
They're excuses. Plain and simple.
Tell yourself that as you're sitting in front of the boob tube watching the last few episodes of Game of Thrones. Or scrolling through your FB feed.
Tough love today but sometimes it's needed for a kick in the gluteus assimus.
