How I'm going to stop being a zero

I'm a zero when it comes to the arts.

I have no musical talent and no artistic skillz (can't draw, paint, sculpt,...).  I don't even listen to music often - preferring podcasts or, better yet, silence.

What's a girl to do with no inborn ability to create masterpieces of art?

Why, take a cartooning class, of course.

And so this week I embark on a 6 month journey to see if I can turn this lost cause into a budding artist.

Ultimately, my dream is to create cartoons to go with these daily emails.  Giving me a visual creative outlet for my very analytical and logical brain.

As part of the process, I'm encouraged to post my drawings online.  Put myself out there.  So I'll post them on Zen Fertility Center's Facebook page.

Yesterday was our first drawing assignment.  Sketch anything in 1 minute.  I think my dog will have a prominent role in my cartoons so I started with him.  Here it is...  He looks kinda evil.  Got some work to do.

My 8yo said she would do the assignments as well so here's her drawing of my bedside table lamp...

We have daily assignments so I assume I'll be posting my drawings every day.  Eh, I don't really know.  I'll find out along the way.

This isn't just about me though.

It's really about inspiring you to do something that you may never have thought of before (like me with the cartooning - came in my inbox one day and thought it would be fun so why not?) or time to act on your bucket list.

I have no desire to be a professional artist/cartoonist but I have every wish to take advantage of opportunities that can potentially enrich my life, even if I don't know what I'm getting myself into. :)

The fertility journey can be lonely, heartbreaking, frustrating, ________ (fill in the blank).  There's no denying that.

But it can be made much less so if you add elements that bring you joy, wonder, and excitement.

Something to look forward to.

Cuz if you're not moving forward, you're moving backwards.  Being stuck is moving backwards cuz time is passing you by.

Every minute you give to negativity is one less minute of gratitude and expansion.

With the weekend right around the corner, do something that will add a little spark.  If it feels good, do it again.  Then again.  And again.

If my new adventure can help inspire a friend with fertility issues, please forward this and have her sign up for my daily emails at zenfertility.com/top10.
