When I was a kid, I would punch guys who I was crushing on. I outgrew that when I finally realized it wasn't the best way to get them to notice me as a girl.
Nowadays, dating primarily starts online so getting attention begins with my profile.
Since starting to write these daily emails a year ago, my writing has improved a lot.
In fact, here's what one guy said about it recently...
"Julie, that’s the funniest damm profile i’ve Ever read." (Spelling and appropriate capitals are NOT his strong suits.)
I've had many similar comments.
Considering that these guys are looking at hundreds (if not thousands) of profiles, that's high praise.
You're probably wondering what my profile says, huh?
Well, here you go...
"Easy going, low drama mama with a fulfilling life looking for my manicorn. Ya know - the Jekyll to my Hyde, Clyde to my Bonnie, almond butter to my jelly. Let’s break out of this ghetto online hood...
Healthy living is important. The only fast food I acknowledge is In N Out.
I like trying new things and am spontaneous. I'm here, aren't I?
Bilingual in English and Sarcasm (see below...).
I have 2 kids and a dog. My dog's usually my favorite child. I love AND like him. Can't say the same about my kids all the time. ;)
Just out of curiosity, why do you guys need to say how much you love your kid, the apple of your eye, sun of your universe, etc.? Shouldn't that be a given? Unless you’re a douche. Just sayin'... ;)
You get a gold star if you read this far. Yay, you!"
And that's my online dating profile!
Have I gotten my manicorn? Not yet. Work in progress...
But since online dating apps are the primary way people of my advanced age :/ meet new people, I gotta up my game.
So I chose to lead with my strength - writing with a dose of humor.
That's my edge. Cuz I'm competing with women much younger than me with tighter bodies not stretched by 40 pound weight gains from 2 pregnancies, bigger and gravity defying boobs that haven't been abused by breastfeeding 2 kids, and eyes shining with dewy innocence unjaded by life (yet).
And so it is with you as you're on your fertility journey.
Recognize what your strengths are and use them to propel you forward faster.
Love cooking? Commit to making healthier meals for both you and your partner to take to work, instead of eating out.
Do you like working out? Share your enthusiasm with your partner to motivate him (if he needs it) and spend more time together.
Are you a good planner? Plan regular weekend getaways so you and your loved one can decompress. You'll be surprised at how rejuvenating doing this regularly keeps you charged!
Do you love to sing or play an instrument? Do more of that. It'll help you manage stress and spread joy to others.
Just as you have strengths, you have weaknesses. And those deficient areas are probably part of the reason why you're having trouble getting pregnant.
Turn those weaknesses into strengths to improve your fertility naturally with Fertility Top10: http://zenfertility.com/top10
