My heart broke when I saw a recent picture of my favorite martial artist, Jet Li.
He looked frail and weak. Decades older than his actual age of 55. I didn't believe it was him until his manager later confirmed his identity. (Still hoping it's someone else.) That's how unrecognizable he was. And I know my Jet Li.
Obviously, he's succumbing to his health issues.
It probably didn't help that his body has been banged up for decades with kicking booty on and off screen.
It reminds me of how when we're young, we think we're invincible. And it's true, our bodies can take a lot of abuse. Harken back to the days and nights of hangovers, waking up not knowing how you got there, staying up until the sun rose, knowing exactly where to go for your 1AM full-on meal (in my case, chili cheeseburger and fries at Tommy's in Westwood - don't judge, that was before I knew anything about nutrition).
And then being an adult with a full-time (and then some) job and actual responsibilities kick in. Which means stress and often lots of it.
You can't keep up cuz the damage is piling up faster than the body can repair itself.
And that's what's happening when you're having problems getting pregnant. Your biological age isn't stopping you from getting pregnant, even if you're in your 40s. Your diagnosis of poor egg quality, low ovarian reserve, low AMH, high FSH, PCOS, or endometriosis isn't the reason either.
Rather, it's not knowing what the best things to do for your fertility are. You might even have gotten a head start by cutting out dairy, gluten, and/or sugar from your diet. Awesome! You're well ahead of the curve but there's far more to it if you want to give yourself every advantage.
Here's the thing, the devil really is in the small details when it comes to improving fertility naturally when you're at your rope's end. So if you want to be all in, check out my Fertility Top10: http://zenfertility.com/top10
