Today's fertility tip is an obvious one that you've heard before but there's a distinction that needs to be clearly made.
Fertility tip #4 - Don't smoke or do drugs. Limit sugar and alcohol intake.
For both women AND men.
As a woman, you already understand the damage these substances wreak on your eggs, reducing your chances of getting pregnant.
But the toxins affect sperm just as much as eggs. And, like women, it's harder to recover as they get older. So men need to take as much responsibility as women when trying to get pregnant.
In fact, the better the man's sperm, the less dependent on the woman to improve egg quality.
Since sperm is constantly made, it's faster to improve sperm quality than egg quality, possibly shortening your time to pregnancy.
Think about how much easier it is to build a house from scratch as compared to renovating an entire house.
Renovation requires working around existing framework and systems that can't be moved. Since women are born with the eggs you will have in your lifetime, it's a longer process to reverse any damage that's already been done.
On the other hand, a brand new house is built to your specifications. In a sense, sperm can be made to order. Given the right ingredients, he'll get stronger sperm. Supersperm!
So both of you should commit to replacing these habits with better ones.
Often they're triggered by stress or boredom. Recognizing the causes allows you to figure out what you can do in place of grabbing a smoke or drink.
Getting a few push ups or workout in relieves stress and boredom and is a whole lot better for you!
