Fertility tip #9 - Drink more water.
This is the least revolutionary idea EVER.
That's why I saved it until the end of this series of tips, rather than the beginning where it actually belongs.
But, honestly, no matter how many >$15,000 IVF cycles you do, expensive supplements you take, or weekly sessions with your acupuncturist, if you don't drink enough water, your fertility ship ain't gonna sail.
Your boat is literally on dry land.
Your basics need to be covered. Like drinking enough water.
And most of you are guilty of letting this slide.
Why is getting enough water so important for fertility?
Your body is 50-70% water by weight. The variation depends on age, health, weight, and gender.
As much as 75% of the body weight of a newborn infant is water as compared to some obese people who have as little as 45% water by weight.
But if we look at composition, 99% of molecules in the human body are water.
Water is essential for every single cell, organ, and tissue to do their jobs.
It's a matter of priority.
If there isn't enough water for basic life supporting functions like digestion, breathing, and detox, there won't be enough left over for reproduction - a function that goes online only if there are enough resources, like water.
As it pertains to fertility, the cervical mucus is mostly water. In fact, cervical mucous is made up of 90% water.
Don't see a lot of fertile cervical mucus before ovulation? You might be dehydrated.
Water is also important in egg maturation for ovulation and the uterine lining for embryo implantation.
How much should you drink?
Use your urine color as a guide. It should be a pale yellow, like lemonade.
Drinking more water is a simple lifestyle change that results in big rewards.
